Trusted Dietitian In Nottingham Who Puts You First

Finding the right dietitian in Nottingham can feel overwhelming, especially when you're looking for advice that's tailored to you rather than a one-size-fits-all meal plan. At The Riverside Dietitians, we take the time to understand your individual circumstances, listen without judgement and provide practical, evidence-based nutrition support that fits your lifestyle, helping you make realistic, lasting changes with confidence.

Whether you're seeking support with weight loss, eating disorders, digestive health or personalised nutrition, we're here to provide expert guidance in a calm, welcoming environment where you feel heard from your very first appointment.

Why The Riverside Dietitians Was Created

After more than a decade working within the NHS, our founder, Sophie Mumby, recognised that many people simply weren't receiving the time and personalised support they deserved. While the NHS provides incredible care, increasing time pressures often made it difficult to fully explore each person's unique circumstances and create realistic plans that could be sustained beyond the consultation room.

The Riverside Dietitians was founded to change that.

Here, appointments are never rushed. Instead, we take the time to understand your lifestyle, your health, your family life and the challenges you're facing before working together to develop an approach that feels realistic, evidence-based and achievable.

Our aim has always been simple: to provide professional dietetic care that puts people before protocols and long-term health before quick fixes.

Combining Clinical Expertise With Genuine Compassion

Food has always been at the centre of Sophie's interests. Alongside a passion for science and maths throughout school, she knew she wanted a career where she could make a meaningful difference to people's lives.

Dietetics offered the perfect combination.

Today, Sophie combines over 10 years of clinical experience with a friendly, approachable style that helps people feel comfortable discussing even the most sensitive concerns.

Her experience working within psychiatric healthcare has shaped the way she supports every client. She understands the close relationship between nutrition and mental wellbeing, recognising that eating habits, emotions and physical health are deeply connected. Taking a trauma-informed approach, she creates a safe, judgement-free space where clients feel listened to, understood and supported throughout their journey.

Supporting Real People Living Real Lives

Good nutrition shouldn't require perfection.

As a busy mum of two young children, Sophie understands first-hand that everyday life is often unpredictable. Between work, family responsibilities, social commitments and everything else life throws at us, unrealistic meal plans simply don't work for most people.

That's why every recommendation is designed around your life rather than expecting your life to fit around a diet.

Whether you're juggling a demanding career, raising children, recovering from illness or simply trying to establish healthier habits, we'll work together to find practical solutions that feel achievable both now and in the future.

Helping People Build A Healthier Relationship With Food

We support adults and young people with a wide range of nutritional concerns, including:

  • Weight management

  • Weight loss support alongside GLP-1 medications

  • Eating disorders and disordered eating

  • Digestive health and IBS

  • Personalised nutrition support

  • Vegetarian and vegan nutrition

  • Learning disabilities

  • Neuro-rehabilitation

While Sophie has particular expertise in eating disorders, disordered eating and perinatal nutrition, she's equally committed to ensuring every client receives the right support. If another healthcare professional would be better placed to help, she'll always be honest and guide you towards the most appropriate care.

What Makes Our Approach Different

Nutrition advice is everywhere, but personalised, evidence-based support can be much harder to find.

People choose The Riverside Dietitians because we focus on the individual rather than offering one-size-fits-all advice.

Our approach is built around:

  • Evidence-based nutrition guidance

  • Personalised one-to-one support

  • Compassionate, judgement-free consultations

  • Realistic recommendations that fit everyday life

  • Long-term behaviour change rather than restrictive diets

  • Understanding the wider factors that influence health, including family, work, relationships and mental wellbeing

We don't believe in perfection.

We believe in progress.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide friendly, professional and evidence-based nutritional support that helps people improve their health through realistic, sustainable changes that fit naturally into everyday life.

The Values That Guide Everything We Do

Everything we do is built around a small number of principles that shape every consultation

Evidence-Based Care

Every recommendation is grounded in current scientific evidence and professional clinical practice.

Person-Centred Support

No two people are the same, so every plan is tailored to your individual goals, circumstances and lifestyle.

Compassion Without Judgement

We know discussing food, weight and health can feel daunting. Our consultations are designed to be supportive, respectful and welcoming from the moment you arrive.

Realistic Change

We help you build habits that can last a lifetime, not follow unsustainable diets or unrealistic expectations.

A Clinic Designed To Help You Feel At Ease

As soon as Sophie visited Lowes Farm House, she knew it was the perfect home for The Riverside Dietitians.

Located just 15 minutes from Nottingham city centre, our countryside clinic offers a peaceful setting surrounded by nature, trees and the nearby river. It's a place where clients can step away from busy daily life, slow down and focus entirely on their health and wellbeing.

Many people tell us they appreciate the calm, private environment, particularly when discussing sensitive or personal health concerns.

Meet Sophie Mumby

With more than 10 years of experience as a HCPC-registered dietitian, Sophie combines extensive NHS experience with a warm, approachable style that helps clients feel comfortable from their very first appointment.

Her background includes specialist work within psychiatric healthcare, giving her valuable insight into the relationship between nutrition, behaviour and mental wellbeing.

She is particularly passionate about supporting people with eating disorders and disordered eating while providing honest, evidence-based care across a wide range of nutritional concerns.

Above all, Sophie believes everyone deserves to feel listened to, respected and supported throughout their journey.

A Little More About Sophie

Outside the clinic, life revolves around two energetic toddlers, which means free time is something of a luxury.

Whenever she gets the opportunity, Sophie enjoys weightlifting, which she finds invaluable for both her physical and mental wellbeing. She also loves long countryside walks, relaxing with a good book and finishing the day with a traditional pub lunch.

Like many people, she believes healthy eating is about balance rather than perfection. While nutritious meals are an important part of everyday life, she's also the first to admit she can never resist a good cheesecake and a glass of red wine.

It's this balanced, realistic outlook that shapes the advice she gives to every client.
