At The Riverside Dietitians, we have extensive experience supporting individuals undergoing neuro-rehabilitation, working across both the NHS and private practice.
Sophie has worked in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings, providing nutritional support to individuals with neurological conditions and acquired brain injuries. This breadth of experience allows for a highly adaptable and practical approach to complex rehabilitation needs. She has worked alongside case managers across the UK for years and is a respected member of the MDT.
We work with the individual, alongside families, carers, case managers, and other members of the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure the highest standard of care throughout the rehabilitation journey. Our approach is collaborative, person-centred, and responsive to changing clinical needs. We work within both the Mental Capacity Act (2005) and the Mental Health Act (2025) to ensure that the individual client is always at the centre of the care.
We provide evidence-based nutritional advice tailored to support neurological recovery and long-term health. This may include:
-
Supporting appropriate weight gain or weight management
-
Optimising bowel health and gastrointestinal function
-
Managing fatigue, reduced appetite, or altered nutritional needs
-
Addressing dysphagia, texture modification, and safe swallowing strategies
-
Supporting sensory changes, food aversions, and cognitive challenges around eating
All of our personalised nutrition plans take into account individual abilities, preferences, and rehabilitation goals, ensuring recommendations are practical, achievable, to best support recovery and improve quality of life.
We are here to help individuals and those supporting them make informed food choices while navigating the challenges that can arise during neuro-rehabilitation. Your rehabilitation journey is supported every step of the way with The Riverside Dietitians.

How we work.

01
All of our appointments are held on a 1:1 basis with a specialist and highly experienced dietitian. We are friendly and compassionate and always hold you at the centre of your care.
03
During the appointments we will discuss your medical and nutritional background and discuss your goals. We will provide education around your diet and nutrition and collaboratively create a plan that is realistic and achievable for you as an individual.
02
All of our appointments last 1 hour and are available either virtually or in-person at our Nottinghamshire clinic.
04
We are very flexible with our appointments, most people like to be reviewed weekly or monthly but we can work around you and your schedule. We offer appointments during the day, evening and on specific weekends. We are available between sessions for unlimited messaging support to best support you on your journey.
